TOURNAMENT RULES, REGULATIONS, AND CATEGORIES

 

RULES & REGULATIONS:

  1. Trout are slotted (15"- 20").  No Trout over 20" will be weighed.

  2. Maximum of 5 anglers per team.

  3. In order to participate in the weigh-in you must be in line, with fish in hand, no later than 4pm.  The weigh-in is at the Fulton Convention Center (former Paws and Taws location). The weigh-in is held from 2-4pm on the day of the tournament.

  4. All anglers must abide by all Parks & Wildlife Rules and Regulations

  5. All anglers 17 and older must have a valid Texas Parks and Wildlife Fishing License with the Salt Water Endorsement.

  6. You may not leave the dock before 5:30 AM.

  7. No glassy-eyed fish will be weighed.

  8. No Reds over 28” will be Weighed.

  9. Fish that are entered into the Individual Angler Categories (Heavy Red/Trout/Flounder) will NOT be allowed to be used in the Team Categories (Pescadores Slam/Trout Stringer/Redfish Stringer). The only exception for this is Spot Pot. Spot Pot Red may be the same fish used in Heavy Red/Redfish Stringer/Pescadores Slam.

  10. In the event of a tie for all categories, earliest weigh in time will be the tie breaker.

  11. All Weigh Master decisions are final.

  12. No culling of fish will be allowed at the Weigh Station. Only bring the fish you are entering into the tournament to the Weigh Station. Anglers/Teams that do not have their fish picked by the time they reach the Weigh Station will be asked to move to the back of the line to have time to choose their fish and to help ensure a smooth and efficient weigh-in process.

  13. If wrong fish is chosen for entry or if a fish is disqualified for any reason, it cannot be replaced with another fish.

  14. All fish must be caught on a rod & reel.

  15. All teams and anglers must remain within eyesight of each other and vessel at all times.

  16. All boats must have a fisherman that currently reside or previously resided in DeWitt County or have received a personal invitation from a member of the board.

  17. All fish must be caught the day of the tournament after 6:00 AM.

  18. No fishing guides, previously licensed fishing guides, or professional fisherman are allowed to fish in the tournament nor allowed to be on the boat. This includes, but is not limited to, fisherman who are sponsored, fish in a circuit, etc.

  19. If ever caught cheating in this fishing tournament, your team will be automatically disqualified with no reimbursement.  There will also be a lifetime ban for all members on the team.

  20. Angler's and Spectator's are NOT ALLOWED to cross the barrier between them and The Weighmaster.  Angler's who do not abide by this rule will be subject to disqualification from the tournament.  

TOURNAMENT CATEGORIES:

Pescadores Slam: Heaviest Trout, Red, and Flounder. You must have all three to weigh- in to this category. Trout and Red will need to be slotted. If no team weighs-in a trout, red, and flounder, there will be no Pescadores Slam awarded. 

Trout Stringer : 3 Trout Slotted 15"-20". 

Red Stringer: 2 Red slotted 20” – 28”.

Heaviest Redfish: 1 Red slotted 20”-28”.

Heaviest Trout: 1 Trout slotted 15”- 20”.

Heaviest Flounder: 1 Flounder 15"- No Max.

Heaviest Hardhead: 1 Hardhead.

Spot Pot: 1 Redfish with most spots. Must be slotted 20” - 28”.

WHEN IS THE DEWITT PESCADORES TOURNAMENT?

The 2024 tournament will be held July 13th, 2024.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT?

Anyone may enter, as long as at least one person on the team currently has or previously had a residence in DeWitt County or have received an personal invitation from a member of the board.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENTER?

The entry fee is $125 per person. 

WHERE IS THE TOURNAMENT?

WHAT DOES THE ENTRY FEE INCLUDE?

The entry fee will enter everyone in the spot pot, Pescadores Slam, and also includes meal and entertainment at the post-tournament awards ceremony. You will need to BYOB.
